Fiona Reid, who was on the Residential Advisor team during her years at St Martin’s is currently working as Dean of Morling Residential College (MRC) in Sydney.  Fiona seeks to create in MRC the same type of environment that she experienced and valued while she was a resident at St Martin’s College.

Her first impression of St Martin’s was that it was a warm, friendly, welcoming place, which would be a great option for a first move away from home given its safe and supportive nature. She found the community welcoming, made some good friends with whom she regularly spent time and enjoyed meals together, and she particularly enjoyed the social events and free meals which always attracted a crowd.

Fiona found the support provided by the staff at St Martin’s was exceptional. She has fond memories of chats with Peter Savage, who was Dean at the time, Donna from admin, and with the cleaners who were always up for a chat whilst they at the same time did such a great job of restoring order and cleanliness to the household!

Fiona grew up in Cooma and moved to St Martin’s College when she was 18 to study Arts/Social Work at CSU. After graduating, Fiona moved to Melbourne in 2004, followed by London where she practiced as a Social Worker with children, youth and families.

Fiona still has contact with some of the friends that she met at St Martin’s and values these friendships.   And who did she contact when she was considering taking her current role as Dean? Peter Savage. A tribute to the strength, nature and duration of the relationships that are built at St Martin’s College.
